Nash Falls by David Baldacci

Nash Falls by David Baldacci

Walter Nash is a consummate financier.   His uncanny ability to recognize the rare nugget in the vast pan of businesses has led to his vaunted position in one of the world’s financial giants.  Walter’s position brings him to the attention of the FBI whose interest is less than welcome.   Money laundering and murder are leavened with moral depravity. A tall man, Walter finds himself over his head.

Walter, who is socially awkward, finds his quirkiness is overlooked due to his ability to turn sow’s ears into silk purses. The social awkward part does impact his family life where he finds himself at arm’s length with those he loves.   Walter and his father are wholly alienated. Ty, Walter’s father, was a kick butt person with Vietnam baggage.  Shock, Ty’s best friend, becomes a part of Walter’s life, much to Walter’s dismay.

In essence, the story is that of a phoenix that must die to be reborn.  Walter must face trials radically different than the rarified business transactions in which he excels.
