Am I Depressed by William G. Bentrim

Depression doesn’t just impact adults, children often suffer from depression as well.   A major difference between childhood and adult depression is that adult depression is taken seriously and childhood depression is often overlooked.   Some statistics suggest that 50% of children afflicted with psoriasis are diagnosed depressed.   Much of that depression may be attributed to social isolation and negative peer reaction to the disease.   It is important to recognize that kids get depressed for many reasons some medical and some social.   When a child shows prolonged sad or upset moods then medical consultation may be necessary.  This book is certainly not diagnostic, it is simply trying to explain to kids that depression is not “weird” and that diagnosed depression is treatable.

Tommy is down and has felt sad and upset for weeks.   His Mom tells him that his Dad has battled depression for decades.   He and his mom decide that he may be facing depression and should see a professional.
